One of the most important items in the Pokemon world is the Pokeball, which is used to catch more Pokemon.
They’re also a recognizable symbol of the series, and learning to draw a Pokeball can be a great way to show your love for the series.
Drawing a Pokeball can be trickier than expected since it’s not a simple circle, but this guide will make it much easier!
How to Draw A Pokeball
We’ll begin this how-to guide on how to draw a Pokeball by outlining the ball. We will draw a circular shape so you can use a drawing compass for this step and the next.
As mentioned, we won’t be drawing a simple circle in this guide and will focus on half of the Pokeball for now.
If you’re using a drawing compass, draw half a circle with the tool, but draw small bumps in the center where the two halves of the sphere connect. Once you’ve drawn those lines, you’re ready for step 2!
You can complete the other half of the outline of your Pokeball drawing in this second step. This is another step where you could use a compass to draw the curve of the ball.
The curve for the bottom half of the ball starts at the central bulge you drew in the previous step.
This completes the pattern for the Pokeball, and we can add more details in the next few steps!
Part of the Pokeball’s iconic design is the rounded portion that connects to the ball’s central band. This is the look we will draw in this step of our how-to-draw-a Pokeball guide.
To do this, we’ll extend some slightly curved lines inward from the bulges you drew in the outline in the previous steps.
These lines culminate in a central circular shape in the middle that acts as a button to open the Pokeball.
Step 4 of your Pokeball drawing will be easy for you! All we’re going to do now is add some details to the button you designed in the previous step.
To do this, you can draw a circle inside the button and then another near the outline.
Once we’ve drawn the button details, the next step is to finish the drawing before adding some color.
In various Pokemon shows, games, and other media, Pokeballs usually look nice and shiny. We will draw this brilliant detail in this step of our How to Draw a Pokeball guide.
To start with these details, you can draw a circle near the top of the Pokeball for a reflective detail. Next, draw a small curved line near the left corner of the Pokeball’s middle band.
Then you can finish by adding another curved line starting at the middle band and going to the side of the ball in the bottom half.
Once you’ve drawn those reflective details, you’ve completed the final details of the Pokeball! However, you don’t have to move on just yet, and there’s a lot you can do to add your touch to this design.
The interesting idea is to draw your favorite Pokemon that emerges from the Pokeball. There are also different variations of Pokeball, and you could draw some of these variations.
In this final step of your Pokeball drawing, you’ll add some awesome colors to your image. The classic Pokeball colors are red, white, and black for the center band.
We used this color scheme in our reference image but adjusted it slightly by using different shades of red and gray for the two halves.
We then used slightly darker shades of gray for the ball’s center band to finish it off.
If you want to make different variations of Pokeballs, you can also use different colors to make similar ones like a Great Ball or even the awesome Master Ball!
If you’ve drawn additional details or added some Pokemon, you can also add more color by coloring those aspects.
So you can play with a few different art mediums and tools. We can’t wait to see you complete this sketch!
