HHC Vs. THC: What’s the Difference?

Read Time:4 Minute, 38 Second

Minor cannabinoids were created as a result of cannabis industry innovation and discovery. Surprisingly, what we believe to be limited to significant cannabinoids like THC or CBD is not the case. A wide variety of cannabinoids can be seen. CBN, CBG, Delta-8 THC, and Delta 9 THC are minor cannabinoids that have taken the market by storm and seen rising demand over time.

However, even if many cannabinoids are more of a version of the primary cannabinoids, one of the best aspects of the cannabis market is that every such version has its own set of traits and side effects on the body.

This essay will help you learn more about Delta 9 and Delta 10, which have recently gained much attention, and will primarily focus on the differences between the two compounds.

Cannabis

Cannabis was well-known for its capacity to make people feel euphoric. On the other hand, is nothing less than a mystical chemical due to its ingenuity and discovery.

Over a hundred cannabinoids are found in the cannabis plant, and they can have a variety of mental, emotional, and physical effects on the body. Such cannabinoids have shown to be a game-changer in terms of the medical and therapeutic benefits, thanks to the distinct mix of qualities and actions that each cannabinoid has.

While CBD, Delta 8 THC, and Delta 9 THC are among the most popular cannabis products or chemicals, newcomers such as THC-O and HHC are also in high demand.

What is HHC?

HHC, or hexahydrocannabinol, is a chemical that was previously only known to scientists but has acquired appeal. It is a hydrogenated version of THC and is a semi-synthetic cannabinoid.

It was invented by American chemist Roger Adams in 1944, when he introduced hydrogen molecules to Delta 9 THC, causing THC to hydrogenate into HHC.

What is THC-O?

Various cannabinoids have made their way into the public eye in different ways. Some of them are found in nature. However, some people include the production process. As a result, they get a one-of-a-kind set of features and benefits that such a chemical would provide.

THC-O Acetate is a synthetic THC analog with a very high potency level. Despite being artificial, it is thought to be structurally comparable to or identical to Delta 9 THC.

Difference between THC-O and HHC

New and essential cannabinoids are entering the market. Thereby, there will be some uncertainty regarding the qualities and consequences of the various cannabinoids available.

Furthermore, you may believe that there is little difference between the two chemicals if they are both THC versions. THC and HHC, on the other hand, each offer their own set of qualities and advantages.

The following are the differences between THC-O and HHC:

Manufacturing Process-

Because THC-O is a synthetic counterpart of THC, it is produced through a lengthy process:

CBD is derived from hemp plants containing less than 0.3 percent THC. Afterward, Delta 8 is derived from CBD produced in this manner. Then, you combine acetic anhydride, an explosive and volatile chemical, with a THC ester. Finally, THC-O Acetate, often known as THC-0, is obtained.

You’ll get a thick, flavorless, and odorless substance with great potency. Due to acetic anhydride, the process necessitates the use of specific equipment. It is a challenging and risky process due to its complexity and length. As a result, it is preferable not to do such procedures at home.

Potency-

THC-O is a powerful THC variant that is five times stronger than Delta-8 THC and three times stronger than Delta-9 THC. In comparison to Delta 8 THC, HHC is more powerful. However, THC-O Acetate is five times more potent than Delta 8 THC, and it is less active than Delta 9 THC. As a result, THC-O Acetate is more powerful than HHC.

Chemical Structure-

THC-O stands for acetylated THC. THC- O Acetate has a similar basic structure to THC, Delta 8 THC, and Delta 9 THC, with some differences. The THC double carbon bond is broken in HHC due to hydrogenation and saturation with hydrogen atoms. By replacing it with hydrogen, HHC becomes more stable and has a longer shelf life because it can better withstand heat and UV exposure.

Origin-

THC-O is a synthetic version of THC produced through a highly complicated, long, and robust process that does not exist naturally in the cannabis plant. HHC, on the other hand, is found in the cannabis plant naturally. However, it is only present in trace amounts, and extracting it from such small quantities is not commercially practical.

Effects-

THC-O and HHC, on the other hand, have a wide range of medical and therapeutic benefits. They increase a person’s cognitive functions and stimulate their appetite. You will also get euphoric feelings as a result of this.

THC-O is known for its great potency. It gives you the highest and most psychedelic experience without putting you to sleep. THC-O also provides the best high state and euphoric effect. However,  HHC is unable to do so.

Bottomline

The cannabis market is booming right now. Minor cannabinoids like HHC and THC O are expected to thrive in this rapidly expanding market. On the other hand, consumers must understand the fundamental differences between such chemicals to comprehend their nature and effects.
